Lumiere is a duo from Dingle, in West Kerry, featuring Pauline Scanlon and Éilís Kennedy. These two singers have amassed a huge song collection from their families and the rich traditions of their homeland - steeped in history and the Irish language. Nicola Joyce, best known as the lead singer of Gráda - who have toured NZ four times - has released two critically acclaimed albums to date. The latest, Natural Angle, was recorded with Grammy award-winning icon and producer, Tim O’Brien, and was named by USA’s National Public Radio as one of the Top 5 Folk Albums of 2010. Having toured extensively over 25 countries in the last six years, Nicola has earned her prominent place in a new generation of Irish folk singers.
Noriana Kennedy, from Dublin, presents a songbook stretching generations and diverse genres. Likened by many to a young Mary Black, she has the gift of being able to touch the listener through understatement and simplicity. Her debut album Ebb n Flow gained her international recognition and marks the first assured steps into what promises to be a long journey.
Coming together for the first time as the Celtic Divas, these four singers have a bond, a charm and a beauty that is unmatched and unmistakably Irish! Backed by an impressive band in its own right, this collaboration is especially exciting.
Backing the girls are Noelie McDonnell (award winning songwriter from Ireland) on guitar and vocals, Australian folk musicians Ben Franz (The Waifs) on bass and fiddler Chris Stone (The String Contingent). To complete the line up is Wellington local, Gerry Paul. Brian Walsh and Jennie Cantwell will be offering FREE Introductory Gaelic Football sessions for children on Sundays from 2pm - 4pm. Starting on Sunday 12th February for 5 weeks.

Sessions:
U8     2.00pm - 2:30pm
U10   2:30pm - 3:10pm
U13   3:10pm - 4.00pm

What to bring:
Sports clothes, sports footwear, sunhat & water

Limited spaces are available for each session so please register asap to avoid disappointment.

A large crowd of players and spectators were in attendance on Sunday at our first hurling competition of the year. In all, there were about 40 hurlers, with three teams entering; Harps, Rangers, and a combined St Pats/Celtic team. The competition was good, with Rangers just pipping Harps by 2 points in the first game, St Pats/Celtic beating Harps well in the second game, and St Pats/Celtic beating Rangers by a goal in the third game to win the tournament. A big thank you to everyone who turned up, especially the people who were involved in the set up of the pitch, refereeing the matches and organising the teams. A special mention to John Breen from Rangers, who was player of the day, with a particularly good performance in the second game. We hope to have more hurling once the football season is out of the way and to possibly play a game against Wellington or Waikato later in the year. Cheers Liam.

The AGAA committee would like to say a huge thank you to Liam O'Keeffe for organising the Hurling Blitz and look forward to seeing more hurling in Auckland soon.
